not killing themselves, just other people committing suicide.

Like if they have an obsession with people like Kurt Cobain or Elliott Smith, and imagine constantly what their last thoughts were and generally wonder what angst they felt. Or if they have an obsession with people who have depression, even if that said person doing the thinking doesn't have depression.

Like, if this person is extremely happy but thinks about suicide often, but doesn't ever imagine themselves doing it.

Is this an unhealthy way of thinking? In this scenario, would there be something wrong with them? Could such behavior actually lead to the suicide of a happy person?

Don't worry, the person isn't me. =] I was just wondering like crazy about random things today, and this sparked when i saw a commercial for a depression medication that said "suicidal thoughts". I'm not sure if this question makes any sense, I just seem to have a billion odd questions today.

Thanks. =D

  1. I would say it's pretty normal

    I mean if thought just stays thought and not into action

    but this type of thinking would be kind of sadistic, seeing as that this person enjoys the pain of others to make oneself feel better

    idk

  2. I think if a person thought frequently about other people's suicides without feeling suicidal it would likely be an indication of some kind of disorder.  I wouldn't want to have to diagnose it, but it would certainly be outside the 'normal' range.

  3. I can honestly say "no" ... if thinking about suicide makes you want to do it then I would have years ago.  A close family member committed suicide 4 years ago and not a day goes by that I do not think of these events in one way or another.

  4. There is so much in the news and on TV about suicide that it's normal to think about it.  As long as you don't think about doing it to yourself, then you are OK.  Just take one day at a time and try to think HAPPY THOUGHTS!!!

  5. wow kurt copain was awesome

  6. I have never heard of that obsession; however, to me it is not unlike someone being obsessed with serial killers or mass murderers. Maybe you are just trying to figure our why and how they can take their own life.
