Those sites were a bit creepy.

You've got to find a web hosting company to host your site.  If you just need a small-time web host, I suggest GeoCities Small Business hosting.  I have used this service for several years and have nothing to complain about except for the fact that it is somewhat limited in features.

If you need complete control over your server, then there is nobody better than Leaseweb.  This is the company to go to for high-demand, high-bandwidth websites. They have some more inexpensive plans as well, though.

i would use wetpaint.com or fangap.com. that is where you can create a fan site. wetpaint is cool to.

First of all, you need to purchase at domain and a hosting plan. You can do this at www.godaddy.com (cheapest hosting&domain services and its very good).

Then, Godaddy has a feature that you can install a portal on it such as WORDPRESS (The sites above are powered by WordPress), then you can craft it to look something similar to the links above or give it your own unique style.
