present an electronis form of their education portfolio? I was wanting to do a paper based one because I wanted to include a scrapbook portion of things I've done in volunteer hours at the elementary school. I guess me question is an electronic version the norm now? Has anyone recently presented a paper version?

  1. it's always better to do a paper version because electronic portfolios can easily mess up, not open correctly, get deleted, get lost, etc. so i would say type up all the information on the computer, but print a hard copy and put it into your portfolio.

for my certification program that's what i did. generally, it is best that if you're doing an elementary school portfolio to include lots of pictures and color within your portfolio. one easy way to do this is to put colorful borders around each page (ie: apples, pencils, etc). they have a ton of free borders in MS word. or you can go to staples and buy education themed stationary.

  2. take digital photos of the hard copies for your ePortfolio. You can always bring in your old-fashioned hard copies along too......

    Good luck

  3. Districts will usually have a preference for one or the other. Electronic forms are increasingly popular, though. I was hesitant to do it that way, too, because I wanted to include student work. I used digital images of the work, and ended up also including a video clip of me teaching, which I got me positive feedback. Good luck!
