Does sperm really die as soon as it hits the air??

I heard this was just an urban myth. Then from other people I heard that they can live fine out in the open. So which is it????

no they live a bit longer than that. if they dry out they die.

If this were true, then sperm donation in order to inseminate women would not work, so it is not true.

I don't think that's a myth. They survive in the conditions set for the human body.
