Does splicing speaker wirre reduce sound quality?

I splice my surround sound speaker wire, will there be a difference in sound quality where as if I just had one long wire not spliced?

  1. I have a surround sound and i had to splice my wires. they seems to be as powerful as before. if you do this correct the sound quality will not change at all.


  2. Yes there will be some sound degradation, also there will be a chance to cause a short in your wiring. Not to mention that it will increase the chance to pick up electrical interference.

  3. So long as the splicing is done properly, there should be no problem.

    My idea of a proper splice are the splices being soldered to ensure that no corrosion will degrade the connection and each splice isolated and insulated with its own shrink tubing.

  4. if you have high end equiptment of course if not go with it (use solder) (tape) and braide wire do not twist like a bread tie...
