Does store-bought software stop working (expire) after a certain point? ?

Question

I went out and bought a software program called Study Works 2002,

which is a self learning math program. I used it a few times but then

stopped using it. I bought it about 3 or 4 years ago at Best Buy.

I decided to start using it again this weekend, but it does not activate when

I put the disk in my computer. Did it expire? If so, how can it expire?

I figured once I bought the software (CD), that it was mine to use for as long as I wanted. Thanks for suggestions.

I think Only the Updates are expired from the time it was first activated ..

but call the company and it should be OK
