Does strengthening your leg muscles make you a better runner?

it might be a stupid question but...

if you do squats are other exercised like that, that help strenghten your muscles, will this make you a better runner? or will it make running easier? will it make you faster? or able to run longer?

  1. yes it will. all of the above. gaining strength will help with all of that. easier, faster...the running longer part less so, but it'll still help. the running longer will have more to do with cardio endurance.


  2. Yes it makes you run much quicker. I'm not sure about the making you run longer distances part. Being fast is all about leg muscles.

  3. Yes, working out is a big part of running. I used to be faster than my brother until he joinged a weights class, then he was faster than me. It sucked. haha. But yah, squats are good. The best workout you could possibly do if you want to get faster is a 'clean'. Working out will not build to much endurance though. I'd still beat my brother in a long distance race.
