Does stuff like TorrentSpeeder really work??????

Question

I have a 128 kbps DSL line. I saw in a banner on the top of the homepage of www.torrentspeeder.com :

My download speed went from 5kb/s to 250kb/s

So I was wondering if this is really true and I can increase my download speed from 5kb/s to 250kb/s like that person.

Should I download TorrentSpeeder????

Don't download it. It's likely malicious software.

If your internet speed is 512kbps then no software will be able to make a torrent run any faster that 55kbs.

If your torrent is running slowly it's likely there are few seeds. In which case you can bite the bullet and hope the speed picks up, or find a similar torrent with more seeds.

It says "up to 200%".  5kbps to 250kbps is 5,000%.  If they can't even do 3rd grade arithmetic, do you really think they can write a program that no one else, in all the years torrents have been used, could write?  I get 800kbps downloads - am I really going to get even 1.6mbps downloads, let alone 4mbps downloads - from people who can't upload faster than 700kbps?  Think as large as a Porsche on the outside, but as large as a railroad car on the inside.  Their claim is logically impossible.  (You download a torrent from a user running a torrent program.  Most people have upload speeds under 1mbps, so how can you download faster than that from them?)
