Does sulfur in Iron sulfide still have the properties of pure sulfur?

  1. It does not, because sulfur undergoes a chemical reaction with iron to give iron(II) sulfide. A chemical change does not preserve the physical properties of the elements reacting. Hence, for example, no yellow colour is visible in iron(II) sulfide. The entire compound is an entire phase, and you wouldn't even be able to tell that it is composed of iron and sulfur, unless you carry out a chemical - not physical - analysis.
