  1. I do not think so.  Iodine would probably turn you blue.  


  2. All swimming pool chemical balances are not the same. Some pools may contain iodine where others will not. It wholly depends on the chemical system you chose in your pool. That being said, pools that do contain iodine usually add it in conjunction with chlorine to control algae and oxidize organic matter. Iodine is great for algae control and is often used in pools that have algae problems.


  3. dont know about iodine but it has other chemicals in, just dont swallow any,  

  4. compared with chlorine, iodine has the advantage that it virtually does not react with ammonia or other nitrogenous compounds and thefore produces no compounds that are likely to effect swimmers, such as eye discomfort or or bad smells.

    Iodine is also used less, and is safer to use in swimming pools than chorine. So therefore I would think they use one or the other, not both.

  5. Yes, some pools have Iodine and no, it does not turn you blue - that is iodine tincture. Here is what DHSS say about it.
