Does taking breaks while running take away from overall gain???

I like to run about 2 or 3 miles a day and I was thinking about stopping every quarter mile to lift weights and do some crunches.

Will this take away from the loss of calories and rate at which I build leg muscles???

  1. I dont think you should do your ab workouts, or lift lifting while you run (breaks i mean)--i think that will take away from your actual workouts.  Finish your run, or run afterwards..

  2. You won't get a lot of cardio endurance built up by doing this,  if ya want to do all the above just run before working out maybe 1.5 Mi. then work-out with weights and do some crunches.......then do another 1.5 to 2 Mi. afterward.  You will see better results doing this.      Good Luck

  3. Taking these breaks does not affect the amount of calories you are burning.

I don't know if it affects the way you will build muscles.

Most people either lift before or after running it is more convenient.

  4. no, it wont take away from calorie burning or muscle building but will affect  fitness

  5. You should concentrate on working up your cardio endurance. It's a gigantic part in general fitness.
