Does taking some community college classes hurt your college transcript?

I can take dual enrollment classes while I'm in high school, but I think it might hurt my transcript once I graduate from a state university. The reason I want to know is because I might want to go to some sort of graduate school.

  1. Not at all.  The reason being, that only the elementary college courses, e.g. Freshman Comp, American History, etc. are available to you in community college.  And no college cares where you get these preliminaries out of the way.

  2. Absolutely not!  I have an associates degree from a community college and now I go to an Ivy League college.  Woohoo!

  3. They won't hurt your transcript for college - classes you transfer just come with credit, not the grades attached, so any classes you transfer won't contribute to your GPA.  But if you do poorly in the community college classes, it WILL look bad to any college considering accepting you.  So don't do it unless you're sure you'll do well.
