If so, than how come my father is still alive? This is all I've ever known him to drink: tea or coffee at breakfast, coffee midmorning, tea with his lunch, tea or coffee at tea time, shot of whiskey at 6pm, beer or wine with evening meal, maybe a tea before bed if he's thirsty.

He's in his 60s, and never had a medical problem that the doctor advised he drinks more water.

  1. yes they dehydrate you but so you wont get dehydrated you should drink your own pee. YES PEE.

  2. Tea Coffee and Alcohol can in very large amounts dehydrate you you take for example a hangover that is a mild form of dehydration but you have noting to really worry about the amount he is drinking wont do any real harm as for the Doctor telling him to drink more water I have little doubt he has his reason but personally I think he is probably thinking better safe than sorry and is being extra safe

  3. The food you eat can be a source of water. Caffeine is a diuretic. It helps release water from the body. Alcohol robs the body of water. Beer, wine, coffee and tea do have some water in them. It would be beneficial for him to drink clear water. If he's done it this long, I would assume his body is used to his daily intake. The doctor is sometimes right, though.
