I have used telephone wire in place of conventional coaxial cable to receive Cable TV. But the picture as well as sound quality I am getting is not good. Is it due to telephone wire and should I replace it with coaxial cable?

  1. The shield in the co-axial cable (cable tv) may reduce the Interference with other signals and TV signals can transmitted to long distance with out any loss.

The TV signals will lose when u use telephone cable also it is few meters. I can test it pratically

  2. Yes it can contribute but if the telephone cable you used is not so long, it may not affect the reception.

Anyway, better use the right cables for their right purpose. They are designed for specific use.
