Does tennis string have a use by date???

Hi. I was going to buy a long real of tennis string off ebay to save money on restringing my racket. The guy in the shop said that tennis string has a certain life before it gets out of date. Is this true?

Yeah if left unused, it becomes brittle.

If used frequently, one year.

If seldomly used, 2 yrs or so.

Anyway, have it strung & enjoy the game till the strings are usable. If ya notice that it needs new strings after sometime then change for a new one.

no this is not true at all.Why would strings go out of date if theyre not strung yet? Theres so pressure on them, and its not like they rot or anything. Strings dont go bad. Once you string them, theyll start to lose their tension.
