Okay, my life has been taken over by snot. You mommies with toddlers know about this, I am sure. My 10-month-old hates having her nose wiped. Saline drops are necessary, but no fun to administer. I gave up on that blue thing a while back and now I am wondering if I should give it a go again since now she's really stuffed up. The thing is, I have to buy one (I think I was so fed up with the one I got from the hospital that I passed it on when I got rid of some of her baby stuff) and well, I'd rather not buy one unless the mommies of the world vote that it is indeed a necessary and useful tool from extracting snot from the noses of the mobile young. I will be one happy mama when this cold is over and she can breathe again!

  1. Yes! My baby hates it so much and sometimes I almost have to pin her down, but it does work wonders. And in the end, its easier on her nose, because repeat wiping of the skin makes her sore and raw.

Hope it gets better soon. Good Luck!

  2. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH, thank you I needed a laugh. I have not heard it called that. But yes it does work.

  3. Hehe technically, it's called a bulb syringe, in case you need the real term. But yes, they work. I still use mine with my 20 month old, and they only cost about a 1.50 or less at wal-mart when bought singly, so it's a good investment. As the other moms stated, you may have to wrestle your child down, but once it's over and done with, they can breath, they forget 5 minutes later and everyone's happy :D Good luck!

  4. YES they work! You'll be amazed how much snot little ones can get when they are stuffed up!

Until they can blow their own nose you need one. Also put a cool mister in her room and use the saline drops. They hate it but it is necessary.

The only thing on the aspirators (which is the actual name of the booger snarfer LOL!!) is that I found on mine I had to take a sharp pair of scissors and trim the top down a little so the hole on the top was a little larger to get enough suction to suck out the boogers.  You also want to squeeze it out and use it to suck up hot water and squeeze it out when you are done with it. Let it drain dry upside down so the water drips out after you squeeze it out.

  5. i use to use it i thought it was really helpful my son would get like that and i would put saline nose drops wait a couple of minutes and try that blue thing it worked for me he really didnt like it but it was helpful

  6. Yes! my mom used it on me and my sibilings and she loved it. you might want to do it when shes asleep though, cause, babies dont really like having things stuck up their noses.

  7. Follow the tip of the mom who said to use saline drops first, let them stay in for a minute or two (gives it time to loosen the mucus) and Then get busy suckin. Using it fast/quickly (squeeze before you stick it in the nostril!!!). My 3 year old HATES IT. BUT, during the time of year when she's sick, we (me & Daddy) hold her down and suck her clean!!! BUT, she seems to recover from the cold much, much faster than OTC meds alone. O and i'm sure you know...but hydrate hydrate hydrate... that also helps keep the mucus from getting so thick.

    Hope she feels better soon.

  8. ya it totally does and its quick and easy!!

  9. it works, but the stuff has to be runny.

  10. You know its funny that u asked this question. LOL! My kids didnt like that blue bulb either. I dont think nobody child likes the bulb. My daughter has asthma, so u can just imagine what i went through with her to clean her nose and to keep her nose clean. She's 8 now. But it works wonders. Once their little noses are cleaned out and they are ready to sleep or play or whatever.

But I'm going to tell u a gross but funny story, my brother-in-law use to blow into my nieces and nephews mouth to clean the snot out. Gross, yeah! Funny yes! So u can imagine what his face looks like afterwards! But yeah use it. It works great! Good Luck!!!!!!!
