Does that water-for-gas home kit, where you add hydrogen to your vehicles actually work? Is there a negative?

  1. No, they don't work.  In the case of your Crown Vic, which has a large V8 engine, such a system would need to produce several liters of hydrogen a minute to make a difference in performance, but any commercial system you find produces about 1/10 of a liter, if you can actually find out how much the system produces.  Since these are scams, however, most producers of these "solutions" don't even know how much hydrogen their systems generate, if any at all!

  2. Call the thermodynamics police I am in violation!

I have a car and a small truck using supplemental hydrogen, both are healthy and get better mileage.

I installed my first on a 1992 ford ranger 4.0l, after install my average mileage went from 17.1 to 23.7. A side benefit is that my engine knock when pulling hills is gone.

    Install #2 is my 1977 Mercedes 240D (2.4L / 64 horse power). mileage went from 27.2 to 36.4 using bio-diesel 80.

(the aardvark site above asks you to turn off the generator and see if there is a speed difference.  The answer is yes, about 3 mph and the differance in power is noticable, even to passangers, when climbing a hill)

I am using both homemade and commercial electrolizers to generate hydrogen, I get about 1.2L/min of brown’s gas (HHO). Currently I am working on a new design and hope to get at least 3.5 L/min .

One device I have experimented with produces 7 to 8 L/hr of browns gas using 12 volts at 30 amps (360 watts). The problem with this one is that it is in a 50 gal barrel, and is over three hundred pounds.

The alternator in most vehicles are capable of generating 50+ amps, more than enough for most current electrolizer designs, Using about 1-2 HP.

The problem with applying the laws of thermodynamics / conservation of energy to hydrogen assist combustion in vehicles is that internal combustion engines are so very inefficient . One estimate is that only about 1% of the available energy in hydrocarbons if utilized to move the occupants of vehicles , Even if we used 5% that leaves a lot of room in the back seat for improvement.

If hydrogen assist is a bad idea why are GM and other automakers spending millions on R&D?

The web is full of Snake oil salesmen:

There are a lot of web sites that will sell you plans for a hydrogen generator (electrolizer) . Many of these plans are fine for kids science fair projects but produce very little hydrogen. Some of these devises look like a mayonnaise jar with wires coming out of the top with old forks for electrodes, and recommend using baking soda for an electrolyte…. Not something I recommend to attach to your vehicle!

Do your homework!! several web sites have well built hydrogen generators (electrolizers).

Don't  settle for anything that makes less than 60 L/min of browns gas.

Buy a kit if you are handy, or finished unit. plans for the units are avalable free, just do a yahoo search.

    Hope this helps

    Stages of new ideas

    1) heresy!! burn him at the stake!

    2) that can’t work!

    3) Maybe I’ll take a look at that

    4) I actually thought of that years ago

  3. Well, I can only think of one negative -- IT DOESN'T WORK.

How is it that normal, rational people believe in UFO's and this dumb H2o to H scam that's been going around for the last two years? You people need to read a fifth grade science book and see why you simply cannot generate enough hydrogen from water electrolysis overnight to run a lawnmower for two minutes, not to mention the compression storage units and pumps needed just to contain it.

    UGH...

  4. I can't believe that people are claiming it doesn't work!

The problem is they don't have the smarts to put a device on their own vehicles.

I installed two hydrogen units on my v8 truck and my mileage is better than ever!!

The truck has tons of more power, I was getting 18 MPG on the freeway and now I am getting 38 MPG or more!!

    I can't believe the difference!!

Take it from someone who knows and already has it installed. Don't take the advice from other answers when they don't have a clue on how to construct a unit and install it.

I encourage you to pursue this idea. Yes, it does work.

Read the facts online before you decide what you want to do.

There are more positive facts about it than negitive ones.

Don't buy the water4gas kit because it doesn't produce a lot of hydrogen. Make your own!! I attached a video clip that will explain step by step instructions on how to build a hydrogen unit that produces 80% more Hydrogen than the water4gas system.which will save you more gas cost.

I am going to install eight more hydrogen tanks in the rear of my truck with an extra battery to run it all.

Free Fuel? I'm not sure but I will find out when I get eight units installed.

    Good Luck!!!

  5. No, this is just a giant scam.

For more information and an explanation as to why it doesn't work, see the link I've provided below.

And no doubt you'll see plenty of people saying "it works, I fitted a kit to my car and my mileage improved by 40%..."

So why do they say this if it doesn't work?

Because they are inevitably part of the scam.  They'll also refer you to websites they own or through a link that earns them money every time someone clicks on it.  They are just a part of the scam.

This stuff doesn't work, won't work and can't work.

By the way, this question should be an FAQ, it's now being asked several times a day as the scammers ramp up their efforts and try to capitalize on high gas prices.

  6. it doesn't work its a scam,if it actually worked all the new cars would have those on them, think of the cars they could sell, all the things your reading and hearing about that are miracle cures for better gas mileage don't work, the best thing you can do is keep your car well maintained, that along with easy driving habits will help more than anything, good luck.
