  1. Not a chance...that's an archaic Honour thing...good way to avoid inquirey or inquisition as well.

Don't see it happennin intentionally these days.

  2. Surely not!!

  3. It's never been a tradition. A captain who loses his ship doesn't get another. Some chose to sink with their ship rather than face poverty and shame.

A captain is supposed to be the last off, however, in cases of emergency. He's responsible for the lives on board.

  4. No, he doesn't have to do that.  That would be rather senseless.  The safety of everyone on board is his responsibility though, so it is his job to make sure everyone gets off safely.  It is also his responsibility to make sure everyone knows what to do and where to go in the event of an emergency, and to arrange practice emergency drills.  It is his responsibility to make sure all safety and emergency equipment is in working order and up to date, and it is his responsibilty to make sure all procedures are followed if an emergency happens.  So while he does not have to go down with the ship, he is an important person in making sure things go as well as possible.

  5. The short anwer is NO,,,,

But it would be a choice the captain only will be making,,

I Think the captain of a ship should be the last to abandon in an emergency,,

  6. NO! lol! That was an old tradition because the captain lived on the boat for almost his life. So, he loved the boat so much. So, he sank with it. But not anymore!

  7. depends how much you like the captain

  8. Only if he a fool>but should be the last to leave once all others have left>
