Question:

Does the 'notification of new email' texting feature use anything other than your phone's txts?

I signed my cell up so that when a certain few email addresses email me, I'll get a plain text from yahoo telling me that I have new mail and it will list an unclickable link inside the text. (I don't get charged for incoming txts, fyi) My question is, is this just simple texting, or should I expect a charge from the cingular company for use of Mmode? Keep in mind, that I didn't open any browsers or even start Mmode.

The thing that brought this up was tonight, I noticed on the yahoomobile main site, my cell's number was in front of mmode.com (ex: 1234567890@mmode......). Should I be worried about this heaping up a nice charge for the txt notifiers?

Thank you.

  1. * When idling, the phone defaults to just displaying nothing on screen but a clock (not even the status bar). If you receive a message or phone call then it rings, but if you miss the message the phone goes back to the clock screen, which contains no indication of whether there’s a message waiting for you or not. If you press any key it displays the status bar with the “new mail” indicator, but you can’t just glance at your phone to see if you’ve missed a message.

        * When typing using the Motorola predictive text-entry software (iTAP) it’s pretty easy to type too fast for the phone and miss characters. Typing SMS messages is a slow steady plod.

        * There’s no infrared or bluetooth, so you have to use MMS to transfer photos and ringtones to other people. You can buy a cable to connect the phone to your PC, but I’ve just been using MMS and the GPRS browser.

WAS THE ONLY THING I CAN FIND:-)
