Does the 5HTP supplement work?

Question

I'm skeptical about antidepressents because I have heard that why/how they work exactly is unknown & that a placebo works almost as well.

Any one with personal experience with 5HTP or knowledge about it? Thanks!

Ir should work if medication like Prozac, Zoloft and the like are the medication which would have worked for you.

5HTP is the serotonine precursor and works where serotonin reuptake inhibitors would have worked.

i tried 5htp a few years ago and it didnt do anything for me, however i recently learned all depression is not the same and my particulaer type isnt helped by 5htp.

from memory it is more suitable for the ppl that get teary and very emotional, not introverted and go in their cave.

Perhaps look at SAMe as well.
