To go a little more in depth.....

I am switching phones in a few weeks, and I have a Motorola phone where the SIM card is in the back of the phone where the battery is. Would I be able to buy the LG Shine and put my SIM card in the back of the phone to make my contacts & plan switch over ?? Is there even a place to put the SIM card in the back of the LG Shine???

IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE ANSWER PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION.. thanks :)

  1. when you open the back of the phone,on the upper  right corner there will be a sim slot and a memory slot...youll see it...

  2. Hi, I'm a Sales Rep with AT&T,

To begin, YES!!!! you can swap the sim card from your Motorola to the LG Shine and keep everything the same.  There are a couple of important points to remember about the whole process though...

    1) If you're not buying the phone from AT&T, then you need to make sure that the phone is compatible with your network (either at&t, SunCom, or T-Mobile....some foreign carriers offer the same model phones as U.S. carriers, but are incompatible with the voice/data features associated with the U.S. network), or that the phone is an unlocked GSM phone.  Given that you're getting a Shine, I assume that it IS an at&t phone (to check the carrier, look on the phone for a carrier logo imprinted somewhere on the faceplate).

    2) As far as transfering your contacts, you'll have to be sure that they're saved onto the SIM card...a lot of times people will come in with a non-functional phone and think that simply switching the SIM card will transerfer their contacts over..this (unfortunately) is not the case.  Go into the contacts/address book from your phone and select the options menu...from there, select "copy all to sim" (if it's available) and select the "merge" option (this will keep the contacts on the phone in addition to copying them to the SIM card).

From here, you can put your SIM card into any compatible GSM phone and keep your contacts & rate plan information exactly as it is on your Motorola.

Let me know if you have any questions or need further clarification!

    Good Luck,

    CB
