Does the Anti-New Orleans crowd support Offshore Drilling?

Same diff, right?

Why build something that is just going to suffer damage in the inevitable hurricane.

There are plenty of unused oil leases that are on safe dry land.

80% of oil leases go unused by the oil companies at a time when they charge us record prices and reap record profits.

The oil companies keep these public lands on their balance sheets in order to inflate their stock price.

They lock in the land with $3/acre leases and no one else can drill on this land already set aside for oil drilling.

They use the high price of oil as a way to hold us hostage so Bush and McSame will open even more public land for them to grab up.

Why open up more public land in areas that would cause devastation to fisheries and tourism rather than force them to use the land already set aside for drilling?

  1. Yes.

Because some AM Radio Shock Jock tells them to.  They are politicizing the tragedy of their fellow Americans and blaming the victims for an Act of God.

The hypocrisy is lost on them.

  2. It takes alot of paperwork to cut through all that red tape before they can start drilling. It becomes a little cost prohibitive.

  3. The problem with drilling in the unused leased areas is that there is no oil there. I know that is a minor problem, and would present no problems if the liberals owned the oil companies. But with a capitalist system, drilling where there is not oil is problematic.

I think it is very amusing that somehow drilling an oil well in one place is somehow ok with the anti's, while drilling in a similar area somewhere else is going to destroy the planet.

It's time to introduce certain people to a concept called common sense.
