  1. The 737-700 has the longest range of the two.  The 900E model is longer and thus carries more passengers (60 prox).  The 900ER trades range for greater payload.

  2. I marked your question as interesting because I did not realize that Boeing sold a 737-700ER and I have a Type Rating on the 737.  I knew they sold a BBJ1,2, & 3.

The 737-700ER is a derivative of the BBJ (Boeing Business Jet) Part -800 & part -700. Launced in Jan. 2006 after ANA requested 2 aircraft. I don't know of any other airline operating the 700ER.

The 737-700ER has a still air range of 5510 NM and the -900ER has a still air range of 3230NM. So the -700ER has a longer still air range of 2280NM. (Still air range means full of fuel not full of people with no wind.)

Adrian mentions in the above answer that those numbers are with a full payload. I don't know of any airplane that can fill all the seats and all the fuel tanks and take-off without being over weight. You have to sacrifice passengers & cargo or fuel, you can't have both.

  3. Compared to the basic -700 and -900, the ER versions have greater range. the -700 has a max. range of 3,365 NM (6,230 km), the -700ER 5,375 NM (9,955 km), and thats fully loaded.

the 900ER has a range of 2,700 NM (4,996 km) in a 1 class layout, and

    3,200 NM (5,925 km) in a 2 class layout

    with 2 aux. tanks
