Does the British Prime Minister have to be Anglican?

I just thought it was weird how Blair became Catholic right after leaving office. I don't know much about British government.

  1. No, they can have a muslim one, too.

    The way the U.K. is going, the position of prime minister will be replaced by an Ayatollah.


  2. Not anymore - not for a long time. Margaret Thatcher was a (lapsed) Methodist, David Lloyd George was a Disciple of Christ and Churchill didn't follow any religion.

    There was a time when the Prime Minister had to be an Anglican, and Catholics were strictly forbidden, but these days no one really  cares.
