Does the Canon Rebel XT SLR Digital take movies?

I have the Canon Rebel XT Digital Camera. I can't see anywhere in the manual about it being able to shoot video, like the cheaper point and shoot digitals do. However, the other day I noticed an outlet labeled "Video Out". Can this camera take video, and if not, what the h-e double hockey sticks is the video out plug for? If it can...tell me...HOW???!!

  1. No, sorry, no video.  Your video out plug (and mine) are for playing back pictures on a television.

  2. No, I don't believe any DSLR's are capable of video... the video out is so you can connect your camera to your television and view the pictures on a bigger screen, can be good for family gatherings.

  3. No, no SLR can take movies. it's just not possible.

  4. No, unfortunately it does not have video.  I think this relates to the fact that you have interchangable lenses and if you were taking video there would be no way to ensure the video was in focus.  I have never seen a video capable SLR.  The video out plus is absolutely to see your photos on the television. Which is great by the way, they are so big, and you can still use a lot of the functions on the camera - like zoom in. So, you can look at your photos a lot bigger than on your computer screen!
