  1. China was only ruled by Emperors, therefore, his family is know as the "imperial family." The last Emperor Pu Yi was forced to abdciate in 1912, which ended over 300 years of the Manchu Aisin-Gioro ruling family. All titles, styles, power and authority of every imperial member was stripped away, and everyone became a "commoner" or "citizen of the new China."

    Since 1997, the current pretender to the Chinese throne is HH Prince Hengzhen (born 1944) who is the son of Prince Yuyan (born 1918, died 1997) who was the appointed heir of the Emperor Pu Yi.The law of succession used is male-line Agnatic Primogeniture.
