MY 8th grade is going to Six Flags in Gurnee IL, and the Dark Knight coaster just opened up there. I love coasters, but despise loops and corkscrews. Drops, as long as they are not insane, i can deal with it. Are there any loops?

  1. no loops at all i personally thought that the ride was a waste of time but u get a pretty good look at the movie

  2. No there isn't. The Dark Knight coaster (the ones in Six Flags Great America and Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson NJ are both Wild Mouse coasters (not the ones that spin though). The ride is mainly about the theming and storyline. The coaster's main elements are tight, quick and unbanked turns. Here are some stats of the ride:

  3. Well I don't know about thew one in IL, but the Dark Knight opened in Great Adventure, NJ and it's more family oriented ride with adult themeing.  Inside it's a wild mouse ride (a traditional one) with quick turns and about 3 drops.  There are no loops or corkscrews.  The preshow may be scary for kids but for 8th graders I think they would like it.  The theming along the ride is the main attraction.

  4. If the Dark Knight Coaster in IL is the same as the one in NJ, I'll tell you this. GIGANTIC WASTE OF TIME. Worst investment Six Flags parks could have ever made; at a cost of $7.5 million, it is the worst, WORST, ride ever. There are loops, no corkscrews, only one "drop" if you can even call it that, and a couple other hills; and the rest of the time you go back and forth like a zig zag.

I don't know why the Six Flags site does this, but I checked out to see if the Dark Knight Coaster was the same in IL as in NJ and it appears so, however on the IL site, it got a MAX rating for thrills and got a Moderate rating on the NJ site. Both have identical info's.

Believe me when I tell you, do NOT waste your time on this ride, it is the worst thing ever, but I guess if you're  not a big coaster enthusiast you'll think its good.

I rode Kingda Ka yesterday and I'll tell you, THATS a coaster.  If the line for Dark Knight is over 25 minutes, do not, DO NOT, waste your time. I can't even express how bad the coaster was. Absoulutely awful. Worse than Skull Mountain.

(But then again, I just re-read your question and it seems like you can't really tolerate big coasters so this one will be right up your alley.)

  5. OMG that's so wierd i did that last weekend and im... I felt like it but no they dont strap u in just the belt metal thing that comes down

  6. OMG! You're so lucky, I've been waiting 4evr to ride that coaster...grr.

No loops, it does have sharp twists and turns though. Plus a unique preshow experience. Watch for screen along the way; look into them and see a clown/joker mask put on your face!

-Could you post here what your opinion was? Really curious..-

    Have Fun!!!!!!!!!

  7. Drops - quick, small ones

    Loops - No

Turns - Hairpin turns (180 degrees)

    Running time - 2 min

    Maximium Speed - 30 mph

This isn't one of those crazy loop de loop coasters, it just has a metal bar over your lap.

You can watch a vid of these guys on the ride with some facts during the video. Go to about 3 minutes. Enjoy

  8. It's kind of like the Ragin Cajun, that's what it reminded me of. No loops and no corkscrews. Some scary things off to the side, but I thought it coulda been a lot scarier. It's pretty cool though.

  9. unless you get right on it avoid at all costs.

    its a horrible ride.

Most compare to ragin cajun and even thats better then it at an extremely cheaper cost.

the dirt where deja vu used to be will give you move excitement then the dark knight.

btw if it wasnt in the dark inside no one would wait 2 hrs for it.

  10. No loops or corkscrews. But a very fast turns. The ride is more similar to "Ragin Cajun" than anything else in the park.

It's really not worth any sizable wait.
