Does the Googlebot and other search engine robots browse through Tripod sites?

I made a website at Tripod last summer, but it still doesn't come up when I search for words pertaining to it. Anyone know why?

There are many reasons why your site won't come up on google.  It may be that google bots don't crawl those free sites, but there is also little in the way that you can edit metatags...you are pretty much relying on your content and whatever links you might have to your site.  I would recommend creating your own web page with your own domain.  It's easy to do and costs little.  You can even sign up for google adsense to offset the hosting costs per month.  For an in-depth review of how to start your own site, check the articles at http://directorix.net/articles.html hope this helps.

Google should be browsing Tripod sites. A good way to find out if Google has indexed your website, without using keywords, is giving the following search phrase:

site:http://www.my.domain.com/

That way you'll be able to see if Google has spidered your site at all, no matter what position it is and no matter what keywords you use to search on.

Also, check http://google.com/webmasters/ and sign up for your site. You will be able to see when and if your site has been spidered and you can also submit a sitemap which helps the robot to find your site more easily :)

Start off by typing in the url into the search field. If it is not there than you have to submit it into the search engines. After that it is time to educate your self on search engine optmization

i dont think they do, from what i know the more you pay google, the better the results will be in your favour.

Hi,

There are many ways to market a small business on the web.  You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC.  However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.
