  1. The internet, cell phones and other communication devices promote isolation from the people who immediately surround you while promoting intimacy with people far away.

  2. Isolation most of the time. Even the cyber-relationship fizzles into nothing when the computer is switched off and usually fizzles anyway after a few months, especially if it is long distance.

There is no substitute for living in the real world.

  3. I think it is neural and doesn't promote - It is just there as a tool and we use it for ourselves to promote whatever we want.

    It gives me both.

I am socially excluded having mental health difference its also a self exclusion as I cannot bear the risk of having my head messed with - here its just words and an easier way to relate for me I use it for a safe inclusion.

    (Social relationship with a condom)

I don't know about intimacy that feels like a bigger word than I would use but certainly acceptance.

  4. Both.

Isolation - to those who is closed to us.

Intimacy - to those who we don't know (on the internet).

I would say, it give the shy people a chance to express themselves. And also give the bad people a place to do all sort of cheating and tell all sort of lies..
