Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. I know it is one country. I am just curious. No offence intended with this question. I am new to this site.

Thanks for answers.

  1. Well geographically speaking, ireland is considered both the republic of Ireland and northern Ireland. So I would take it to assume the category applies to both Northern Ireland and the Republic. If the category was called the Republic of Ireland then obviously Northern Ireland should be either treated as a seperate category or under the UK heading. But I suppose it is something of a grey area and I doubt too many would take offence.

  2. Yes it covers the whole of Ireland. All 32 counties.

  3. No offence taken. Technically Northern Ireland is part of the UK, but I think most people regard it as a grey area .....

  4. yes both are included.

  5. Unofficially yes, a good few people from the North (including myself) post here and a significant number of questions, like your own are asked about NI here.

There is a Belfast section in the UK category but it's a lot more quiet than this one.

  6. Well it depends where people post the question and whether they know their geography becaus technically, Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and Ireland is a separate nation.
