  1. i hope not.

  2. My answer is "Yes".

Let's go to the fundamentals of capitalism: we are in free market and we are free to trade, and when your offer is after-tax (in NBA it is pre-tax), it is a valuable return. For instance, Childress salary in Olympiakos is more or less the same to the after-tax income earned by Corey Maggette.

Meanwhile, the gap between American and European basketball has been significantly narrowing in last 5 years. (Don't you disagree Manu is not a difference maker in NBA right now?) The only definite edge of American basketball is physical superiority. (yet it may be over sooner or later when you see Barbosa's quickness)

Latest rumours suggest that Landry and Delonte West are strongly considering to move across the Altantic Ocean - money does have some impact, but for those with good teamwork rationale like Childress, it is an opportunity to elevate their skill-set.

I want to reiterate that the comeback of Anthony Parker has already proved that an all-around package will be a hotter commodity in future - it may not immediately transfer to a better salary, but I would say NBA teams would be more generous on retaining all-around players.

On the other hand, it gives NBA teams an opportunity to re-formulate their player valuation mechanism and it is not too surprising that there will be less Dampier-like bad contracts in future.

  3. I read those stories but I sure hope not.. NBA players need to stay here in the US!!

  4. Money talks. If European teams start throwing cash around, you can be sure players will follow the money.

  5. probably..basketballs huge in europe and growing rapidly  its only a matter of time before they start signing all stars and superstars.

  6. Taking a beautiful city in Greece over the ATL is not hard to do.

  7. You might not see players in their prime going overseas. But you will see them torwards the end of their careers going.

I'm a huge Olympiakos fan. Lived in Greece for 10 years. Trust me Childress is in a very good situation in a great country and the GREATEST fans.
