Does the K & N cold air intake replace the need for an air filter?

I have an 08 civic lx auto and was curious to know if the cold air intake replaces the need for an air filter?

The cold-air intake replaces your stock air filter and tubing. It doesn't replace the need for an air filter as it should come with one (probably open element). It will change the location of inlet air from on top of the engine bay to somewhere lower so as not to suck in air from the top where the engine will heat it up. Hope this helps.

CAI kits have their own cone air filter placed somewhere outside the engine bay and many times close to the ground (tend to get dirty quicker because of this).  It replaces the entire stock intake let alone the stock filter.  Cheapo CAI kits usually have a poor quality air filter also.

yes it comes with a cone filter to replace the square factory one.
