I was thinking how strong the Monarchy was until the 1700s when a line of weak monarchs took the Crown and Parliament became stronger and stronger. The current Queen seems to be ok with Parliament taking charge. What if future King WIlliam was to assert more control over Parliament, would their rule be weaker?

Im just wondering

  1. A British monarch who attempted to exercise more than moral pressure over the constitutional establishment - Parliament, Cabinet, judiciary - would almost certainly meet with very public opposition, and be very publicly put in order. The result would certainly be a weakened and discredited monarch, and quite possibly a weakened and discredited monarchy.

This is why it has not happened since the reign of George III.

  2. I think that the question was basically settled in 1688 during the Glorious Revoluation. In 1714 when parliament passed over 50 close relatives to chose George of Hanover to be King, it was decided once and for all that parliament rules the country.

I would find it very difficult to imagine a scenario where a future king has direct control over parliament. Even the shake ups associated with the world wars didn't really change the relationship.
