Question:

Does the Klean Kanteen live up to the hype?

I've been thinking about ordering some Klean Kanteens for my family. Sippy cups for the kids, regular cups for me and my husband. Is it a good idea? I hate those typical canteens that make the water taste like metal. Does the Klean Kanteen really keep from leaching anything into the liquid you keep into it? I'm a little skpetical!

  1. I like the Klean Kanteen quite a lot. My two kids use the sippy cups and like the taste of their juice much better when they use their Klean Kanteens instead of their old plastic sippy cups. And my hubby is a devoted biker who refuses to live without his now, the cups he used in the past always left that yucky metallic taste or plastic taste in his drinking water or sports drink.

So yes I'd have to say that our family thinks the Klean Kanteens are a winner!

Here's one review of the Klean Kanteen I found online:

  2. Stainless steel is more or less impervious to chemical leaching, but not entirely, just as with any bottle.

Their advantages are that they're durable, long lasting and, because of the stainless, generally do not impart a flavor.

The Klean Kanteens I've seen and used have been fine.

I use an aluminium SIGG bottle, which I'm happy with.  There's lots to choose from.

It should be said, though, that there's not yet proven to be any problems with plastic bottles (though you will want to avoid using certain cleaning chemicals), particularly with the polycarbonate bottles, like Nalgene, and these may be more appropriate for various applications.

    Your mileage may vary.
