Does the Marine Corps have a program comparable to the Army's "Green to Gold" program where one could enlist in the Marines before attending NROTC Marine Option?

  1. The USMC has no medical personnel of their own.  Ergo, they have no easy enlisted to Commissioned Nurse program ala Army 'Green To Gold'.

Generally, medical personal, like the BSN/RNs that come out of 'Green To Gold' require some degree of compassion for their fellow man.  That is a quality that is almost totally lacking in Marines,  I don't know if it is inherit in the desire to be a Marine or if it is beaten out of them in boot camp.  Either way, they totally lack it, so such a program would be likely doomed to failure for lack of eligible candidates.

(FWIW, a quick Google check reveals that the Army has expanded the G2G program fro AAMED to all corps sometime since the early 1990s.  So potentially, a Marine could qualify, if only they would enlist in the Army.)

  2. The biggest option for Marines wishing to become officers is the PLC(platoon leaders course) program which is available to both active duty, Reserve and civilians. Though nothing is ever guranteed you have the ability of being selected for PLC before going in reserves if you have high enough scores and etc. PLC is no ROTC though, my advice to you would be to apply for PLC as a civilian and go through OCS in two 6 week summer sessions between school years, then you have no commitment and you'll be offered a commision before you have to commit. If you take the commision the will repay your college loans up to a little over 30 k and you also have opportunities in the program to recieve some money.
