Question:

Does the Melbourne Football Club have any supporters?

Apart from the friends, relations & freeloaders who attend their matches it appears Melbourne has no other supporters.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone own upto supporting them on this forum. Or are they just like most Victorian supporters who go into hiding when their team is on the bottom - & come out of the woodwork in droves when on top?

Geelong - for example!

  1. Arsenal supports them I think, although for a team named after the biggest city in Victoria they don't have many supporters

  2. i support them

  3. Gutsache ... you really can be a dumbass sometimes ... everyone knows his name is Brian. :-)

I've been a Geelong fan since 1962 and was at their last winning grand final before last year with my Teddy Bear (in 1963).  I have a photo to prove it.  I joined this forum in July last year and stated my allegiances about three days later when we were fourth on the table (I think it was) and I thought we were done for the year.  (I'd hope you forgive me for crowing a bit but I was also a Rabbitohs fan before the Raiders joined the comp) - I know the losing feeling well.

  4. is this normal british football, or australian rules football lol.

  5. No. Not many Melbourne supporters around by the looks of things.

I do have to agree with the comment that those still about are the old codgers of yesteryear.

Plus I always like reading richokevs comments when someone dares to criticize a Melbourne based club. Onya Richo!!

  6. one of my best mates is a Dees fan,he goes most weeks even when they are dishing up the cr@P THEY  ARE AT THE MOMENT,but yeah the club is really struggling on and off the field

  7. I have been a Geelong supporter since 1982, not a bandwagon jumper.

I follow the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. Both suck, 1970 since the Chiefs won the Super Bowl and 1985 for the Royals since they won the World Series. Neither has played for a premiership since then.

I rode on the v-line from Spencer Street to Geelong in 2003. Geelong was playing Melbourne. There were some Geelong supporters other than myself on the train, also some Demon supporters.

Win or lose, each team has supporters, sometimes a lot of thick, but mostly lots of thin.

  8. as for someone saying melbourne has not many supporters considering it is named after melbourne,

there are much better teams in melbourne to barrack for!

    such as the kangas

  9. I am a carlton supporter and have been for 38 years and proud of it.

wooden spooners or not i support them.

there is a lot of Melbourne supporters but they dont have memberships and yes they say they are. i have friends who happily say "gee my team is doing c**p, but i still barrack for them"

  10. Yes, they still have some.

But I think all the Melbourne supporters are very old.

They come from the good old days when Barassi was there. Now they are too old to get to the games & too old & set in their ways to want to know how to work a computer to come into these question rooms!

The young ones nowadays are all going for Geelong - because they are the reigning premiers!

  11. .What a stupid question.

    Of course they do.

  12. Just the friends and family of the players (but even they won't admit it if asked).

  13. You are onto to something here guts, i am Victorian, but i have noticed this with Melbourne supporters for years, they nick off to the snow every year about now.

i know Arsenal goes for them and will never jump ship, well i hope he wouldn't, you stick with you team , no matter what.

i probably know 15 Melbourne supporters, that all time, not just at present, that's why they will eventually fold, as will north, 30,000 members yeah right, dogs, cats, cockatiels, people will sign anyone up, but its all money i guess, its what north need, pity melb don't rally the same way.

sorry arsenal, but its true mate, fair weathered supporters and always have been,

  14. You're an NRL bloke who doesnt know what he's on about. Stop making up c**p, the Dees have many thousands of supporters. Real big & tough of you to pick on a team when they're down mate

Edit - Ah, come on Wunda, I like the Eagles too. I guess I just stick up for the underdog. You & gutsache wouldnt be the same person, would ya? Yep, I think you are! Multiple users, will you please get a life??

Hey Romper - you wanna see fair weather supporters, go to Subiaco next time the Eagles are playing consistently c**p. Staduim will be half full, was in the Ken Judge years.

  15. I know I thought there was virtually no one at the Melbourne WB game but the crowd figure was 27000. I think the size of the MCG just makes the crowds look small.
