Does the NATO alliance have any influence on US interests, particularly the Middle East?

Israel, India, and Turkey: Triple Entente? With emerging alliances, is the US forcing new alliances by stratgetic control of natural resources. It seems no foreign power has challenged the US Monroe Doctrine so why are we so intrested in the Middle East when we have what we need in our own hemisphere.
