  1. I know it's supposed to, but I still get calls.

  2. i think it really does work we registered our home phone and we rarely get telemarketers calling and if they do call then  you tell them you are on the list, you can then report that company and they can be fined

  3. Yes and no.  Its not going to stop all calls, as not every company checks or follows the rules of the do not call list.

ALSO, and this is a big also, it only works for companies that you did not give your information to.  For example, your utility companies have your information.  And because of that, you can get calls from them.  You can ask to be put on their do not call list, but some companies delete that information every 6 months or so..  Or in some obscure way tell you that you have opted in to receive these calls, only you didnt realize it because you never read the fine print.

  4. It works if you use it properly...as dose the opt out list for unsolicited junk mail

  5. I don't like it because local businesses should be able to call prospects they can help. I don't like to be constanly bothered but mostly telemarketers do this. When telemarketers call me they are rude and disrespectable. I can understand not wanting calls from these people.

  6. Yes, it does work as it was set up to work. Charitable organizations (and they are annoying, too) are allowed to call you, but that's about it.

The problem is with companies that ask for your number when you sign up for something on-line or order magazines or enter a contest or something of that nature where you are voluntarily giving your phone number to these people. It doesn't matter whether you're on the do not call list or not, YOU GAVE them your number, so they and their subsidiaries(sp) are going to call you with every offer imaginable.

My husband ordered something from a hunting website and they started calling the very day he gave them the number. After about a week, I very politely and as sincerely as possible (while trying to keep a straight face) told the caller that my husband was old and senile and I didn't have any idea that he knew enough about the internet to actually use it and successfully order something and that they should really take him off their call list because I took his credit card away from him and blocked him from using my computer. We never heard from them again and I'll probably die and go to telemarketing h**l for that lie, but it proved my point to my husband. He caused the calls and when they thought he had no money to spend, they stopped calling!

  7. Yes it works.  People block the nunmbers they do not want to receive calls from.

    Good luck!!!

  8. The "do not call" list is publicly available.  That means people can look at it and get your information.  No, it does not work.  And now some people even have my cell phone number, even though I only give that number to family.
