I am trying to figure out if the Pan American Highway runs along the Caribbean coast and up through Santa Marta in Colombia. I am pretty sure that it does not from what I have seen from maps, but I have also heard about a few different roads that are considered the Pan American highway in Colombia. Does anyone have a map of Colombia showing the Pan American highway? I have been searching the internet for a while now!

  1. I dont think so, but you can come ask your question here. Im sure someone would know.

  2. No it doesnt and let me tell you that the Pan American highway is not well kept in some places. You can reach Bogota but not Santa Marta. The highway runs mainly paralel to the Pacific coast and it doesnt go near the Caribbean.

  3. The Colombian ministry of transport is in the works of a Pan-American route to Panama, but they have been under attack by conservationalist NGOs, so it will take some time.

There is a route, however it is an awkward dirt track and rather dangerous I'm afraid (although things have got a great deal better)

  4. No - the Pan Am Highway doesn't go anywhere near Santa Marta.

Starting at the Panama border, the Highway goes south to Medellin, then from there to Bogota.
