Does the Paris Opera House only do tours?

Is there still performances in the Paris Opera House, or just tours?

If you wanted to get ticket, for either a performance or a tour, how would you? Does it have to be in advance?

Thanks

  1. i don't understand your question. they have performances year round at opera garnier (the older building of the two opera houses). it is an active, working opera house not just a monument. is that what you were asking?

go to their website to book a ticket for a show. if you don't speak french do it through ticket master but it will be a lot more expensive.

now if you just want to visit the building, go there during opening hours, no need to book in advance. the first respondent is wrong, it is open year round also and should only cost a few euros to get in.

  2. Hi

There is two main operas in Paris. I don t think they run tours as such. Ti see the inside you have to book tickets for a show I think. The Opera is only open for a couple of days a year in what the French will called "Journees du Patrimoine"

Opera garnier the oldest one and Opera bastille

    here's the web link

  3. Two main opera houses continue to operate is Paris.  The oldest and most ornate is the Opera Garnier, the other being the Opera Bastille.  I know they do tours of the Opera Garnier and it is absolutely gorgeous.  A definite don't miss!!!
