Does the Queen Of England deserve all the respect given her?

Watching 20/20 tonight, I saw people tripping over themselves to welcome the Queen or to give a bow. She has her own train, cars, and helicopter. Now, what is this all about? Does she deserve this much praise and courtesy? Or is it only because of her title? Why do people kiss her royal ___?

  1. I'm American and i believe the queen has earned and deserves much respect.

  2. I don't think that respect is always earned in the U.S. either.  People do have a tendency to respect other people with higher titles then themselves.  She seems like someone that does deserve respect.  I think it easy to judge someone when you don't know what they do all day long.  By the way the reason that the US broke away from Britain was "no taxation without representation" not because they hated the monarchy.

  3. She certainly doesn't deserve all the disrespect she receives.  And America fawns over celebrites like there's no tomorrow in the same way you think people trip over themselves for the Queen.  At least the Queen has been a good ambassador for the UK during her reign, and the respect other foreign leaders show for her is because of that, she has built up that respect over a long period of time.   I would rather show support for her than any amount of Britney's, Justin Timberlake's and George Clooney's

  4. The s*x pistols sang a song called God Save The Queen, listen to the lyrics. In the 70's England went through a sort of depression and a lot of ppl were poor. Gas prices out there are way more expensive than here. Every country has it's flaws. Every human is the same royalty or not, who's to say who should be better. I think if she truly cares about her people she should get respect.

  5. Ha! Deserve it? Don't make me laugh. Title is everything.

Whoever said she "works hard representing her country", she's, what, 90?

And oh yeah, for whoever else said "IF the U.S. was a monarchy", well, it ain't. Why do you think we fought the Revolutionary War?

Edit- We-ell, I see I have quite a few thumbs down.

    Bring it on, Brits!

  6. you do know she works very hard to represent the country she reigns right?

  7. Hon, don't worry about it.

Lots of ppl love the queen.  Canada still has her as a monarch, but she has no power here.  the attorney general does.  But just because we are no longer part of britian, doesn't mean we cant trip over whoever we want.

it's the ppl tripping over michael jackson that i worry about.

  8. she doesn't deserve any of it!!!

  9. I wonder how much respect George Dubbya Bush has earned?Maybe that too has been lied about as was his first time as president and the start of the Iraq war.The Queen doesn't have her own plane as the lying president of the u.s.a does or the motorcade that follows him about either.

To kcs I wouldn't trust your source information even if there was nothing else to go by.

Miss Daisy, she is eighty and you are welcome to your country, how many high school shootouts have you had today? How many more lies has your r****d president told today?

  10. hmmm.

  11. I think that she does deserve the respect, if she has earned it, other than that forget about it. but then again i think that her title has alot to do with it. i mean after all she is the QUEEN of England... but it's a personal thing i think.

  12. You're a nut, if America was a monarchy you can bet some of us would at least try and show some respect... Actually no, we'd probably just act like a bunch of clowns because we all think we're better than everyone else... God.

  13. Yes, Queen Elizabeth II does deserve respect.  And, she got it the old fashioned way "she earned it"  Her entire life has been spent serving her country and she has done it with dignity and grace.  Try walking a mile in her shoes and you might have more appreciation.
