  1. Red Lobster has a menu with a lot of boring generic dishes.  But they also (usually) have a fresh fish board where you an order something special.  The live lobsters are going to be good, but I'm sure they use some frozen dead lobsters as well. (broiled = dead, steamed or boiled = alive when cooking began)

I worked at a private seafood restaurant that was fancy and very expensive and not really any different than Red Lobster.  It depends on the item.  Things like lobsters and mussels are way overpriced compared to market value, but some fish can be a good deal.

  2. If you can't get to a local seafood restaurant, I guess Red Lobster would have to do. They opened one in Maine and it closed very soon after. It is a chain and most of their product is frozen. It's not like they have boats in the harbor.

  3. Yes, the lobsters are good........no generally less expensive than other seafood restuarant, Red Lobster is "chain restuarant".

  4. I love Red Lobster! The atmosphere is perfect and the Lobster is great! Although I prefer the crab legs and biscuits!

  5. It's cheap seafood, and thusly, not the best.  It's tasty though, like a junky burger, you know?

  6. Personally, I think most seafood in restaurants is a rip off.  Seafood like crabs & lobster are very easy too cook at home - all they require is some boiling or broiling!  If you have a good, independent seafood store near you, stop in.  The staff there will probably give you step by step instructions on preparation or they will even steam for you!  I think you get much more bang for your buck by doing seafood at home.

Eating seafood can also be messy.  For my family, it's much more fun to newspaper the dining room table & get our hands dirty vs trying to eat politely in a restaurant.
