Does the SAS accept recruits from all combat regiments in the British Army?

Are recruits only accepted from specialist regiments like the paras?

  2. You can go for selection from any Parent Unit. If your already in a more demanding unit you may be in a little bit better shape but no other unit is nearly as demanding as the SAS.

  3. My dad was in the paras, and he tells me allot about life in the military and what he did after the paras. The SAS is made up of around  70% of paras, the rest are mainly British army combat regiment troops and RAF regiment troops.

    Its the same with the SBS but they are made up of around 80% royal marines and then navy troops.


  4. some come from REME, some from scot's guards all regiments.

  5. They accept applications from all male men across the British Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, provided they have enough experience.

    Some successful recruits originally come from the Royal Marines and RAF Regiment. Across the Army, applications come from everywhere - non-combat Corps included.
