  1. yeh.. its like a tribute sort of thing to their history

bulldogs have FFC (footscray football club) but they arent footscray anymore

and lions have BBFFC which is brisbane bears fitzroy football club

  2. Yes, most clubs that have re-located or been renamed have the initials of their old name on their jumpers.

  3. Wow - i noticed the SMFC on the back of their guernseys but i have never (until now) thought to see what it actually stands for.

And I think it does stand for that - probably to honour the history of what was the first football club that was then to become sydney - it honours the side that brought the swans to the club that they are today.

  4. yeah

  5. Yes, that's what it stands for.

And the clubs maintain that practice to keep the tradition of the club alive. The name may well have changed due to finances etc but the clubs don't want to just discard their history & the actual roots of the club.

  6. yes it does and its because they were South Melbourne for about 100 years

  7. Yes, because they were for a long time before they had to move to Sydney.

  8. it USED to stand for South Melbourne Football Club, now it's Sydney Fellas Maul CentreHalfForwards because of Hall.

There are still some rabid South Melbournites down here, you think Collingwood fans are noisy - just don't get caught on a tram with little old ladies...errr women...wearing red and white.

  9. the name may have changed but it was the whole club the moved to sydney so in a way they are still sth melb but with a different name
