Does the Second Amendment mean what it says?

Except that, the militia that fought the first battle of the Revolution WAS just a private little army. And "regulated" meant "equipped."

  1. Yup. that's the literal interpretation of the 2nd amendment! The freedom for people to form militias and to the right to own weapons as well.

  2. Apparently the first clause has no meaning.

  3. it means what the court just said it meant. and i couldn't agree more.now so long the stupid laws that hinder true honest americans their given rights guaranteed by the constitution.chicago is next then san francico.no more political politicians taking away the rights of the people.much like obama signed in chicago i might add!

  4. Interpretation is the key. People can see whatever they want to see however they want to see it.

  5. The second amendment means what it says, that is unless you are a liberal or a liberal activist group like the ACLU. In that case, the number 2 does not exist, you skip straight to 3. It's how they learned to count in grade school.

Liberalism has become a big joke.

  6. How many more Columbines and Virginia Techs are we going to allow the right wing screwballs to shove down our throats?

  7. yes it does period end of story. it's even written in plain English so everyone can understand it. the problem is there are way to many people who can't understand the plain English in the Constitution.

  8. No - they were trying to say something else, but they wrote this instead,  of coarse it does!

I want to see the day when all the gang bangers and drug dealers line up single file in front of a government building to turn their guns in because they're illegal!!!!   I'm more likely to see an honest politician before that happens.

  9. People will continue to argue this endlessly. I doubt very much that our first lawmakers foresaw gang violence and 1,000 round per minute firearms back in the 1700s. Nonetheless, the Constitution clearly permits American's to own guns. To what extent should/could it be limited? That is the big question. I own 14 handguns and probably 40 shotguns and rifles. Nobody is going to take them from me without satisfying my need to see the second amendment clearly overturned. And if it is, they will be taken by force unless I am given what they are worth, which is probably near $30,000. What would they do? Send government officials around to collect them, ready to sign checks based on appraised values? Disarming America would be a bigger feat than installing democracy in Iraq - which we all know turned out to be a big old losing proposition for w. Vote for change!

  10. Yes, it means a well-regulated militia, not a private little army or vigilante.  And  who has the authority to regulate??

  11. No, according to the Supreme Court, the second clause of the amendment means exactly what it says and the first clause is meant to be ignored.

  12. It does now.
