I want to use one to make a telecine machine, project the 8mm film with a power led, and capture it with the Sony DXC-390 cam, but i dont know if i will be able to trigger to take around 6 to 8 still images per second. If it do. does it saves them to a regular PC? so i can later make a movie with it? what kind of triger does it needs? finaly, whats the difference between a 1/3 and 1/2 3ccd chip? is it the resolution?

  1. The resolution is usually measured in TV lines a camera can resolve..this particular unit resolves about 800 TV lines..which is very good and a lot better than most of the consumer HD stuff you get. 1/3 and 1/2 inch chip determines how "fast" the camera is..the bigger your ccd or cmos..more light hit on it..so you can shoot in lower light without compromising on gain ( higher you push the -grainier your image becomes)

3ccd units have 3 separate  ccds for RGB so the colour information you get is more accurate when compared to 1ccd unit.

can you save them to a regular PC?

yes and no..you need a capture card. then you have to deal with codecs- as this unit delivers uncompressed 4:4:4

out..you really need a decent capture card and a fast PC to handle the amount of information real time.

if you are just capturing the composite out..then you don't need a expensive capture card..but the quality is not the same as a 4:4:4 capture.

keep us posted on how your project is going.
