Does the T in Boston go all the way to Providence, Rhode Island? ?

  4. The Commuter Rail, operated by the MBTA, not only has direct service to Providence, but also is less expensive than Amtrak or any buses that travel from Boston to Providence.

  5. "The T" generally refers to the Subway system in Boston:  Red, Blue, Green and Orange lines---which are all Boston Metro area.

    There is a commuter rail, which is part of MBTA <Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority>  which DOES go to Providence, Rhode Island.  It begins at South Station, then stops to make a pick up at Back Bay Station.

    It is a straight shot to Providence from Boston---no change of train is required.

  6. Baby Doll is right.  T commuter rail trains (and the commuter rail IS thought of by most people as part of the T) to Providence run all day and in the evening.
