  1. When you say, "a normal electric car?" I think you're talking about all the Ed Begley type electrics, or homeade ones.

The big difference between those and the Tesla, along with the wrightspeed and a couple others, is that the Tesla uses an AC motor.

It's pretty interesting to read the history of the motor. Tesla engineers got the original basic motor tech from ACPropulsion, whose President worked on AC motors for GM which developed a motor that could run on variable AC.

This is what allows the Tesla to kick butt. This is all on the Tesla and ACpropulsion sites by the way, you just have to dig a bit.

One very interesting aspect of AC motors is that they're more efficient the larger they are. People say, "I don't need that performance, because they're used to ICE (internal combustion) where the more HP the less efficiency.

The faster you go, the more energy you use, but having the power available and running the same speed the larger motor uses less energy.

  2. It is a normal electric car.

  3. Yup, only it looks better and goes faster :)

  4. I don't know, but I want one!

  5. ya

  6. Just like any vehicle, get in, turn key, press gas pedal, press brake pedal, turn key off, exit car.

  7. Voltage Autos  get the info.

  8. Yes, and it looks really hot. Imagine the joy of going by a gas station and not needing any of their over-priced OPEC contributions to terrorism.
