  1. It represents 'the full faith and credit' of the US.  In the old days it represented silver or gold in the US Treasury, but there just wasn't enough silver and gold for the number of dollars that were needed in circulation.  So now it's really just an IOU.  But the US govt. is one of the most stable institutions in the world, so I wouldn't worry, not just yet anyway.

I don't think there are any currencies in the world any more that are based on silver or gold.

Yes, our dollar is worth less these days, primarily because of our debt running out of control.  But Bush will be outta there in a few months and we can start rebulidng our credit and our reputation in the world.

  2. It isn't backed by anything substatial if that is what you are asking.

  3. It represenst the utter failure of the Bush Administration, it is quite worthless now, The Australian dollar is almost the same value, I have never seen that

  4. The us dollar is now worth a whole whopping  four cents. It used to represent gold, all bank notes were backed by their value in gold. Now the dollar represents debt, It represents inflation to attempt to keep make/spend ratio in check. The dollar bill is also known by many to represent the nwo, Now don't go calling me a con nut Im just giving the facts. Anyway, some say that symbols like the pyramid, and the owl in the corner. Among other things like the Latin stating a new world order. What ever the views on the dollar are, this much is true it has a still represents trade and credit, Credits earned through labor and used towards the purchase goods.

    Hope this helps
