Question:

Does the UK Government even know if times are good or bad?

According to Mr Darling, it's bad, Mr Brown and Mr Balls(!) say we're better positioned than other countries to ride it out.

If they haven't a coherent view of what the situation is, how can what they're trying to do succeed?

  1. None of the MP,s live in the real world because they are insulated with money.

    They don,t lose their houses.

There children don,t go hungry ,live on the poverty line,go cold in winter.

Most don,t use the NHS unless for a publicity stunt.

MP,s can afford to go to opticians and dentists.

This is why they can ignore the widening gap between rich and poor until we demonstrate or crime levels escalate.

sorry to go on but in their eyes they will

    succeed.

  2. It can't and won't succeed.

  3. No,

But the British public know that we are in Bad Times.

  4. No - but if you use OECD figures that conveniently include housing now that suits, you can distract attention from the CPI and RPI figures which aren't suiting them at all.

  5. What passes for the present UK government does not know it's bum  (can't say  A>R>S>E> here) from it's elbow so you can't expect it know if times are good or bad. That is a hard question for the little dears

  6. Most politicians haven't a clue what it is like to live on the average wage, there are very few that have even come from working class backgrounds. They wouldn't know what a bad time was if it bit them on the ****.

  7. This New Labour government does not care if times are good or bad.  All they care about is being in government and keeping their noses well and truly in the "trough" !!

The average UK citizen (original, not the millions recently imported from abroad) is being well and truly screwed over and has been consistently lied to and cheated by messers B-Liar and Brown.

Shame on all those who voted for them !!

  8. Interesting question! What we are witnessing is the break up of a beautiful friendship! Alistair Darling is just fed up being blamed for being responsible for the mistakes of Gordon Brown and is doubly making sure the history books have got it right when they are written!

Right now the plotters have more than the required Labour MPs names to force a ballot during the conference season but are holding back to see which way Gordon Brown will jump!Into the fire or into the snake pitIt is a blatant lie to suggest that we are any way near to to being in a better position than other countries to ride this financial storm out! Why?You ony have to look at the value of the pound sterling against the dollar and the euro!

What is happening is Brown and Balls are trying to put a brave face on events prior to the coming conference season!

Make no mistake about it!The knives are glinting and sharpened and ready to strike! These  Labour Party Members of Parliament would put Brutus of Ancient Roman times in the shade when it comes to political back stabbing!

  9. Mr Darling from first impressions appears to be a rare commodity in politics, he actually speaks the truth.

Mr Brown (Nero) and Mr Balls on the other hand would not know the truth if it was tattooed on their eyeballs.

I was always told that if you work in a team you must always pull together  in the same direction, but apparently this does not apply to government.

  10. The UK is definitely in a better position to ride out this economic climate than the US, Australia, most of Africa, and several of the Asian nations. The UK's economy was strong relative to Europe as well for the last several years.

So, yes it's bad, especially in England where the housing market is so absurdly hyper-inflated. But there are many other places where it is much worse. If we keep our heads on straight here in the UK, we'll make it through alright and might even come out ahead if it gets us to do sensible things like use our cars less and reduce frivolous spending and waste.

Unless you paid too much for a house recently. Then you're screwed. Sure some people benefitted hugely from the hyper-inflated housing market, but many more have paid the price for the good fortune of a few -- in this case, literally.

Now can you imagine the outrage if the government had done the sensible thing and derailed that gravy train years ago? We did it to ourselves, no point in blaming others.

Gordon Brown has a coherent view of the situation. If he sounds confused, it's because politics demands that he tells us what we want to hear.

  11. Darling Brown and Balls, they sound like a questionable law firm!

I think its dependent on the advice they get form their civil servants as to what lie they peddle out on any given day. Its a question, what will raise their standings in the points against the Tories. Think of it as Political X Factor
